This van is an example of a van built on Order L1191 which featured
6½ in planking - except for a narrow plank half way up the bodyside, and
reinforced strapping on the ends and vertical centreline of the bodyside.
083240 had started life as 2138 in November 1942, became DS147 in 1954 and
083240 in 1976. It was then used as a Stores Van by the Signals & Telegraph
Department. Photographed at Hastings c.1989.
