Gunpowder vans
| In one of the nether regions of Clapham Junction sidings was
a short platform with three internal user vans - a SR type PMV and two
gunpowder vans. In spite of their origins, the latter two were numbered in the
Southern Region Internal User fleet as 083427 and 083426 (the one nearer the
camera) for use by the S&T Department. 083426 was ex-LMS 701061 built in
1939 at Derby. 083427 was ex-GWR 105779, also built in 1939, at Swindon. All
three vans were in Engineer's olive green with white lettering and were
photographed taken in the early 1980s.
