Train set F - The SE&CR Set
For larger photos click on the images below.

This set is a real odds and ends train made up of Victorian carriages apart, that is, for the ferry van. Not all trains ran in neat rakes and this train is typical. Its train engine is the F1 Class Nº1042, which is currently being rebuilt. I think the D will be finished before the F1 so will probably take on this duty short-term. None of these vehicles is Ex LD&CR (they had "square" windows - check out set D).

1042 The train engine is the F1, No 1042, which is currently being rebuilt.

F1. 4 Wheel birdcage brake. Ex SER and very commonly seen at the head of trains on the Eastern section. F1

F2 F2. Lavatory Third.

F3. Well what I can only describe as a semi-corridor Lavatory first. F3

F2 F4. Lavatory Composite. In this coach everyone had access!

F5. Another semi-corridor, but this time a second class carriage. F3

F2 F6. First/Third Composite (no loo!). Note the mouldings on all these carriages; they go right up to the roof. Note lining too.

F7. Ferry van. Not, I suppose the most appropriate vehicle to use as the brake, this vehicle is one of two built for the Continental traffic by the SE&CR in, I think, 1902. (Date may not be exact, but it's not an SER vehicle). F3
