Uckfield

Uckfield Box Uckfield Signalbox standing guard over the level crossing in the days before the line was cut back to the north side of the road. Built by Saxby & Farmer for the LB&SCR, the 'box opened in 1882 with a 23 lever rocker frame. In 1910 it was re-locked with tappets.

This, later, view was taken in February 1986 and, as can be seen, the steps leading up to the 'box have been moved to the opposite end of the building, which is looking rather neglected and sorry for itself.
