Hastings

Hastings Signalbox Hastings Signalbox is an example of the first Southern Railway design, as previous 'boxes erected by the SR had utilized the pre-group companies' designs. This 84 lever 'box was opened in 1930 and replaced three former 'boxes - West, East and Goods Yard. Photographed here during October 1986

Note that in tthis more recent photo all the windows have been replaced. One oddity at Hastings is that all arriving trains are 'down' trains as both routes to the station, via Ashford or via Tunbridge Wells, are 'down' from London!
