Canterbury East Signalbox, seen here in January 1968

| Canterbury West Signalbox, straddling the tracks on a gantry. This
was erected in 1928 to replace two former 'boxes, Canterbury West Nº1
and Nº2. It has been rumoured that the building was second-hand from
Blackfriars Junction, though it is more likely that it was simply a similar
design, constructed from timber to keep the weight down.

And from slightly further back, showing the round post signal
as well as too much rubbish between the tracks! The modern brick building (and
the train in the view above) obscure the left hand side of the gantry which
continues for a while beyond the Signalbox structure. Inside is a 72 lever
frame, though many of these are not in use today.
